The founders of Szallas.hu are putting their online marketplace business on a fast track with the support of Portfolion. One of Hungary’s leading venture capital and private equity firms has invested in Pepita.hu, an online marketplace operator boasting an extensive merchant partner network and a wide customer base.

The newly raised capital is explicitly dedicated to the further development and promotion of the Pepita.hu marketplace and its related services. Furthermore, the funding will support potential acquisitions aimed at accelerating the company’s already impressive organic growth rate.

Pepita.hu specializes in the distribution of baby-mother and childcare products, toys, and various family-oriented goods through its expanding marketplace. The platform currently attracts 15,000–20,000 daily visitors and processes nearly 10,000 orders per month. In 2019, the company collaborated with over 100 merchant partners, with the total Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) reaching HUF 1 billion.

To ensure a seamless customer experience, Pepita.hu provides multiple communication channels for its users. Customers can reach out for assistance or inquiries via phone, email, live chat, and the platform’s Facebook page.

The portal was established by Zoltán Varga and József Dorcsinecz – the original founders of Szallas.hu. Thanks to their exceptional entrepreneurial vision, Pepita.hu has rapidly evolved into one of the most significant players in the domestic market.

“The customer-centric approach of our team and the continuous innovation of our platform are key drivers of our success. Our goal is to best meet the needs of potential buyers and become a leading player in both the domestic and international markets,” said Zoltán Varga, CEO of Pepita.hu.

“The management of Pepita.hu has a proven track record of success, earning our full confidence from the very beginning. Another key factor in becoming a market leader is having a technologically advanced platform that fully serves market demands. I am confident that through this partnership, Pepita.hu will soon become a dominant online marketplace player at a regional level,” added Jenő Nieder, Deputy CEO of PortfoLion.
